10U B Champions and Runner Up!
All season long, these two 10U B teams have been neck and neck in the standings.
10U B Red started playoff weekend with wins over Aspen and Vail, before facing off against their friends on the 10U B Black team. 10U B Black also came to this game undefeated, having won against Durango and Vail already this weekend. This game was a battle for both sides! In the end, Red won, with three goals, and Black only scoring two. But this story isn't over yet!
10U B Black had a harder path now, but they weren't giving up. On Sunday, they battled back to the big game with a 5-0 win over Vail. Now, the two Steamboat teams were facing off again in the championship game!
The excitement of the weekend continued to build. Since the tournament is double-elimination, 10U Black would have to defeat 10U Red twice. The puck dropped on the Championship game at 12:15, this time ending the third period with a 4-4 tie. With 4:10 left in the first overtime period, Mason Erhart on 10U Black decided the game, and the saga continued! 10U Black won, 5-4, and there would be yet another game for these two teams to decide the champion.
These two faced off once more at 2:30. After a long weekend and intense play, the game ended with four goals for Steamboat Black, and one goal for Steamboat Red.
The teams met their friends at center ice to take pictures with their banners together, in a true show of sportsmanship and excitement for each other! 10U B Black is the WCHL Champion, and 10U B Red is the Runner Up. Both of these teams will head to the State Championship tournament in two weeks, representing Steamboat so well, and continuing to work hard together and encourage each other through it all!
